Precorp.net launches

Precorp is a manufacturing company that creates diamond tipped tooling that is creating the main tools used for the new innovative light weight carbon fiber Boeing airplanes. Build on xml and flash, this site seeks to provide to visitors the truth about Precorp—that is, that they are a solutions based company with the history and experience in making innovative diamond tools. I was responsible for the interaction design, visual design (including 3d), flash and html development, and a portion of the writing. Check it out:

calfeeschoolguide.org - 1st place in AIGA Cause/Affect

I recently noticed that a project I did the flash development work on won an award in the Cause/Affect AIGA competition. It took a first place in the Education section. I think that is great for the organization itself. The cause is noble and I was privileged to participate in its creation. Check it out:

Susa Gateway game demo coming soon ...

If you have been waiting for that game I've been promising, well you're in luck! I've been in the process of building out the first level of the game for performance and balance testing. There is naturally still a bit to do before I release a demo but it has gotten positive feedback from the people that have seen it so far. Its a sci-fi shooter that will run on flash lite 2.0 and above phones.

Key Press Manager Class for Flash Lite (AS1 and AS2 code)

I've been working on a few Flash Lite projects and I thought I'd share some of the classes/actionscript I've developed that really make managing the Key presses in Flash Lite a lot simpler. From my experience, one of the problems with building a Flash Lite experience is dealing with all the different states and situations that a user can find themselves during your Flash Lite experience. Every time a user presses a key there is the potential that your key presses will need to change.

Flash Lite 2 Tips

One of my passions has always been gaming. When Flash Lite 2.0 came out I instantly saw a lot of potential in the platform. However, like many other flash developers, I found designing and developing for the mobile platform a whole other experience. While I do design mobile experiences for a living, taking my blue sky visions and applying them in flash made me realize the many limitations.

Flash Lite 2.1 and Brew handsets

Having spent a good amount of time playing with flash lite 2.0 on Nokia phones I was pretty excited when the brew version came out. Now after playing with it on Brew based handsets I'm pretty excited about its future. Having an insight into the industry lets me know that many carriers are looking at various technologies that do many things very similar to flash-but none of them are at the level of capabilities and ease of development that flash is.

Flash slide show for iWeb (Apple)

While researching an easy way to create and maintain a website (family website) my wife and I had decided to use Apple's iWeb application. Built to work with all the other applications in the Apple iLife suite, iWeb is really a cool application. It even packs a good set of effects-including reflecting images (something I have tended to like a lot recently). It is easy to build something and pretty easy to maintain. It even supports blogging decently enough. As we were building it, however, it was really apparent that their default slideshow was really poorly done.

Welcome to the new site! :: A few cents on the iPhone

In an effort to better serve my clients and to create an way for me to give back knowledge and experience to the design and development community I have set up this blog. I plan on writing articles on design, developement, and interaction while providing an avenue to share experiemental projects with new technologies ranging from server side scripts to flash lite. While my primary knowledge is based in front end developement technologies, I have a passion for learning to enhance those experiences through the use of server side scripts.
