Flash Lite gets more fully integrated with BREW mobile platform
This is actually quite a big deal. However, it is probably more of a big deal for carriers and manufacturers rather than for developers. I've sat in meetings where management level people from various carriers have stated that they'd like to have flash lite for a UI only if they didn't have to write a bunch of extensions to integrate with the platform. Many of the competing technologies already had this as an advantage. This announcement fixes that. Flash lite for BREW will come already prepared with a number of extensions to the core applications on the phone. The one thing I'm not entirely sure is what version the Flash Lite player will be.
Developers probably shouldn't be surprised if its based on an older version of the Flash Lite Player, however. All I'll say is that I know there was more than one version of the flash player that was supposed to have these extensions integrated. Both, for sure, had the improved rendering and actionscript engine we find in the FL 3.0 player. We'll just have to wait and see for the full details.
